When youre moving, Reliant Energy makes it easy to get power quickly. With same-day electricity, your service can be connected within 24 hours. To increase the chance of having your lights on the same day you move in, be sure to submit your request before 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Reliant Early Termination Fees (ETFs)
Early Termination Fees (ETFs) are charges applied if you cancel or switch your plan before your contract ends. If you move outside the Reliant Energy service area, you will not be required to pay an ETF. Reliant Energy ETFs are $150 for 12-month plans and $295 for 24-month plans.
Reliant ETF Exceptions
There are certain situations where you may not need to pay an ETF with Reliant Energy:
- You relocate outside of Reliant Energys service area.
- You face a financial hardship contact Reliant Energy if you are having difficulty paying your ETF.
- You are enrolled in a month-to-month variable rate plan. These plans do not include ETFs, allowing you to cancel or switch anytime for any reason.
